Wesker in Scarlet Devil Mansion(2)
Wesker had been in his room for almost an hour and a half now. He had already unpacked his luggage and was now waiting to be summoned by Mistress Remilia, apparently for a "demonstration of physical aptitude", as Sakuya said while introducing Wesker to his room. It had, like everything else in the mansion, old fashioned furniture and decoration, but Wesker didn't mind. He came here with an objective, and it sure wouldn't be some 500 year old pieces of carpentry and architecture who would make him give up on that objective. Nothing else mattered to Wesker as long as it didn't prevent him from achieving his goals.
Wesker was standing in front of the only window in the room, looking at the landscape under the sun-setting, orange-colored sky, scratching his chin and pondering what kind of "physical aptitude demonstration" the Mistress had prepared for him. "The Leader" had informed him of how strong Remilia could be in a direct confrontation. Her "Danmaku Spellcards" (as the natives and locals called the bullets of energy they managed to produce with their own life energy and strategically attack their foes with) were very powerful and tricky to dodge, so Wesker took his time to collect as much data he could find on her fighting skills and study them carefully. The information was very scarce, but he managed to grasp most of her fighting styles and knew what to do in case he ever needed to battle her. Even so, a "Pure" Vampire with Danmaku Spellcard abilities should never be underestimated.
Wesker is forced to end his thoughts when he hears knocking on the door and Sakuya saying:
SAKUYA: Johansen-san! Remilia-sama requires your presence in the backyard. Do you want me to show you the way there?
Wesker slightly turns his head towards the door:
WESKER: That won't be necessary, Miss Izayoi. I'll be there in a moment.
SAKUYA: Very well. Please, don't take too long. Remilia-sama isn't properly the patient type.
Wesker heard Sakuya's footsteps fading as she got farther away from the room. He drifted back into his thoughts. What if he had to face Sakuya? The only information he got on her was that she has been the head maid of the mansion for quite some time now. But, now that he recalls it, there wasn't any information on previous head maids or butlers at all. But that wasn't the most important bit of Intel on the Scarlet Devil Mansion's servant staff; it was the "psychic" ability Sakuya possessed. Sakuya had the extremely rare and unique ability to stop time itself. Estimated to only be awakened in a single human every 1000 years or more, it was a fearsome ability not even available to 99% Psychokinetics, which were also very rare human individuals. Yes
Sakuya would have been an excellent addition to the "Organization of Red Clouds". The only problem was: she wasn't a skilled fighter, nor did she have absolute control over her gift. This would give Wesker the upper hand in a battle against her. Anyway, Wesker looked at his wrist watch and noticed already 5 minutes had passed since Sakuya came to warn him. He hurried out of the room and made his way to the backyard of the mansion.
When Wesker arrived at the indicated location, standing there were Remilia and Sakuya, apparently talking to each other until they noticed Wesker arrive. There was still some light in the sky, but not enough to harm the Vampire. They turn their heads towards him and Wesker greets his mistress:
WESKER: I'm here as requested, my Mistress.
He said while doing a slight bow. Remilia nodded:
REMILIA: Good. Let me introduce you to your challenge.
Remilia steps away from Wesker and allows him see a big cage, and inside of it were what appeared to be deformed humanoids, some even bearing body parts of other animals, such as cat ears or tails. Remilia looked at the creatures while explaining, occasionally turning her head towards Wesker:
REMILIA: These are "Feral Youkai". Sakuya and other staff members have been capturing them in the Forest of Magic. They are humans who abused and overused their "Chakra" abilities and became these monstrosities. I'll be using them to test your own abilities.
Remilia finished her explanation and started heading for the mansion, followed by Sakuya:
REMILIA: You may kill them if you don't wish to hold back. You'll just be putting them out of their misery.
SAKUYA: Wait here, please.
Remilia and Sakuya entered the mansion while Wesker stood there waiting, hands behind his back, no expressing emotion whatsoever. After a little while, Remilia appeared in the balcony that gave view to the backyard. She made herself comfortable on a chair and lifted her index finger upwards; she started charging energy into a small, pink energy ball at the tip of her finger; she then pointed it at the cage and shot a quick energy beam at the cage's lock, destroying it and opening the door of the cage:
REMILIA: You may begin!
The Feral Youkai start coming out of the cage, their clothing being all torn-up and tattered versions of the clothing they wore when they were still humans. The Youkai managed to grumble a few words, but resorted to snorts and growls most of the time, having their minds shattered by their own poisonous Chakra. They start running wildly in Wesker's direction while he simply makes a slight smirk:
YOUKAI: I'm gonna' tear you apart!!!
A Youkai yelled and lunged at Wesker. He simply blocked the attack with one arm and proceeded to punch the Youkai in the gut, making him tumble back. Wesker was quickly surrounded by the Youkai mob, but anyone who attempted to attack Wesker physically was met with a painful kick or thrust. Wesker started running towards a Youkai and in a quick move broke its neck, then kicked another in the face, then blocked the attack of another Youkai, grabbed it by the arm, broke its spine with a mighty thrust and tossed it against other Youkai, making them fall to the ground. There were only a few more left now. He suddenly felt a push and a slight burn on his arm; he slightly turned his head towards a Youkai who appeared to be using basic-Chakra based attacks, which were often used to create the "Danmaku" energy bullets:
REMILIA: Oh! I forgot to tell you they can be capable of a few tricks!
The charismatic Remilia shouted, Sakuya now entering the balcony with Remilia's tea.
After hearing this, Wesker spun around to face the Youkai and waited for him to attack again; the Youkai shot a few more basic-Chakra bullets, but Wesker easily dodged them using his superhuman agility; he ran in a flash towards the Youkai and made short work of it with an impressive combo, almost appearing he was teleporting between attacks:
REMILIA: Ooh! Impressive!
Remilia said, now drinking her tea.
A couple more Youkai attacked him with basic-Chakra bullets, but he simply dodged them and ran up to them to finish them off with a few more combos. While he was busy with this, a last Youkai started performing Hand Seals, the energy around it started shifting its way and the Youkai inhaled very deeply with its mouth. By the time Wesker had killed the other ones, he turned around to face the last one; the last Youkai blew as strong as it could and a big fireball was shot towards Wesker, surprising him:
WESKER: Huh?!
The fireball appeared to have swollen Wesker and continued its path of destruction until it hit a tree and exploded, igniting the tree in the process:
SAKUYA: Now there's something you don't see everyday
Sakuya said amazed:
REMILIA: You said it. Who thought a Feral Youkai could form elemental Chakra to use in Pyrokinesis?
Remilia replied in the same state as Sakuya, taking a sip of her tea at the same time.
The Youkai giggled maliciously, but his joy was cut short when he heard Wesker's voice behind him:
WESKER: Nice try.
The Youkai was about to turn around, but Wesker quickly thrust his hand into the Youkai's back and impaled him, messing his white jacket with blood, in addition to a few more spots. Wesker pulled his hand out and the Youkai fell to the ground lifeless. Remilia raised herself from the chair and clapped her hands:
REMILIA: Great job, Johansen! It was actually very entertaining!
Wesker glanced at her. So, this was just for her entertainment? Like if he was some kind of jester? Wesker hated nothing more than having other people making him look like a fool, even worse if that person was simply a child:
WESKER: I beg your pardon, Mistress, but weren't you supposed to be judging my physical aptitude?
Remilia simply looked down on him:
REMILIA: Oh, yes, you're indeed a very talented fighter. You do live-up to your résumé.
Remilia slightly narrows her crimson eyes:
REMILIA: Now, go clean yourself up, Johansen. You're making me hungry.
Wesker frowns at her, but immediately leaves the corpse-ridden backyard, walking past a few other staff members, apparently ordered to clean up the mess in the backyard. As much as Wesker wanted to take down Remilia Scarlet, he couldn't. "The Leader" had ordered him to gain her trust, so they could have the mission complete with a lot more discretion. Gensokyo could be a city (of sorts) hidden from the common eye, but almost all the governments of the world knew of its existence; an all-out assault on the Scarlet Devil Mansion was no way of conducting a mission as delicate as this, and it would just alert the world to the organization's presence even more. In the meanwhile, Wesker had to do his best to gain Remilia's trust, only then would he be allowed to betray "his Mistress". Anyway, if he had to put grudges aside in order to fulfill the mission's requirements with success, he wouldn't have a problem in doing so.
Later at night, Wesker was invited to join Remilia, Sakuya, a girl named "Patchouli" and a couple more staff members to dine at the Mistress's Table. Wesker got to know more about Patchouli, and Gensokyo itself. Like mentioned before, it's an antiquated city hidden from the rest of the world, tucked in a corner of Japan and protected by the "Hakurei Border" from outside humans, radars, satellites, you name it. The Hakurei Border was a "dimensional" barrier that seemed to have its source located in the Hakurei Shrine, the only gate between Gensokyo and the rest of the world. Whatever powered this barrier, however, was unbeknownst to Wesker, as it was almost everything about Gensokyo to everyone who lived outside of the barrier. The girl, Patchouli Knowledge was her full name, or perhaps just a nickname she liked to use instead of her real name, had purple hair and eyes, and used pajama-like clothing for daily wear, apparently. She liked to study Psychokinetics and develop new types of Danmaku Spellcards, and was called a "Magician". This was because the inhabitants of Gensokyo were, let's say, almost as antiquated as the city itself, and didn't knew exactly that the "magic" they were used to was actually the power of the mind at work, or maybe they preferred to still call it "magic". But they weren't just antiquated because they were sealed off from the rest of the world
they also had the ability to stop their physical growth, barely aging in a time span ranging from 100 to 1000 years! Wesker was very curious about this peculiar ability, that not even centuries of science could unravel its formula. It might not be absolute immortality, but it greatly increased a human's lifespan nonetheless! Even though Wesker tried to get more information on this amazing ability discretely, he didn't get so lucky, getting responses such as "it's a secret only known to the rulers of the land". His "junior partner" seemed to have also gained this kind of ability, but she had already lost her physical body once, something that Wesker was too cautious to try for himself, and she would get too fussy at the slight glimpse of a syringe's needle, almost thrashing the whole area and everyone in it with her amazing power. After the dinner was over, Wesker was dismissed and sent to his room, a "rare reward", as Remilia said, "for the entertainment he had given her earlier".
Wesker was now in his room again. Even though everyone had gone to sleep, he was still awake and even dressed in his clean butler clothes; the blood-stained ones had already been sent to the laundry room. Remilia could either be sleeping or doing some "nocturnal activity" outside the mansion, since she was a Vampire. Wesker was looking through the same window, now staring at the snow-white moonlight, but he seemed to be waiting for something
Suddenly, he feels a slight chill and hears a whispering voice inside his head "b
hin
u". Although the voice could barely be made out, he understood what it meant. He slowly turns half-way around:
WESKER: Ah. There you are.
Wesker said to the figure hidden in the dark corner of the room. Despite appearing just as a silhouette, Wesker's enhanced vision managed to make out some of its features: it was a female human, with long, dark hair slightly covering her face, but the faint glow her crimson eyes emitted could still be seen; she wore a long, dark cloak with red symbols that couldn't be clearly made out, even though Wesker knew what they were; her footwear couldn't be clearly made out either, but it seemed to be boots of some sort:
WESKER: I was starting to think you weren't able to pass through the barrier.
The young woman simply kept staring at him:
WESKER: Have you already taken a look to the subject?
The girl slowly nodded and answered in a slow, monotone voice, almost like a whisper:
???: She
reminds me a little of me
WESKER: You're helping her, don't you forget that. Can you carry out your part of the mission?
Again, she replied in the same manner:
???: She's strong
But not enough
WESKER: Good. Get back to the basement then. Contact me through telepathy from now on.
Wesker turns his back to the window, only to look over his shoulder back to the girl again:
WESKER: And don't forget to keep your telesthetic signal low. These beings might be able to detect something if you get carried away.
The girl slowly takes her fingers to her forehead and disappears in a vortex. Wesker turns his head back to the landscape slightly illuminated by the moonlight. He says to himself, chuckling in the end:
WESKER: Soon, a new "Dawn" will shake human kind to its very foundations. Hmhmhmhmhmhm

I'm fearless. Now hear this. I'm ear less. And I'm peer-less.
That means I'm eyeless. Which means I'm tearless. Which means my iris resides where my ears is. Which means I'm blinded. But I'mma find it I can feel it's nearness.
You're welcome.
